Extra Long Crochet Bean Stitch Scarf Pattern

Notes:
- This crochet pattern is written in US terms.
- This scarf is worked flat lengthwise.
- To change the width you can adjust the number of times the repeat row is done.
- To change the length you can adjust the length of the foundation chain, it needs to be an even number.
- Initial chains at the start of each row do not count as a stitch
- The foundation chain is worked using the 6.00 mm crochet hook and then the rest of the pattern uses the 5.00 mm crochet hook
- A bean stitch counts as 2 stitches
- Finished size is 100 inches long x 5.5 inches wide. (254 cm long x 14 cm wide)
- Gauge: 7 bean stitches wide (14 total stitches) x 14 rows tall = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) swatch of the bean stitch.
Materials:
- 725 yards of a #4 medium weight yarn
- Yarn Used: Loops & Threads Facets Yarn (3 skeins) in the color Flame
- 5.00 mm (H) crochet hook & 6.00 (J) mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch Markers (Optional)
Crochet Stitches & Abbreviations:
- ch – chain
- st/sts – stitch/stitches
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- bean st – bean stitch
Special Stitches:
Bean Stitch (bean st) – Insert the crochet hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop (2 loops on your hook), yarn over, insert your hook back into the same stitch and pull up a loop (4 loops on your hook), yarn over, insert your hook back into the same stitch and pull up a loop (6 loops on your hook), yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on your hook, chain 1 to close the stitch
Written Pattern:
Using 6.00 mm hook:
Foundation Chain : ch 342
Using 5.00 mm hook:
Row 1: (working in the back bump) sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each ch all the way across (341 sts)
Row 2: ch 2, turn, bean st into the 1st st, * skip 1 st, bean st into the next st, repeat from * all across (the last st of the row will be a bean st)
Rows 3 – 20: ch 1, turn, bean st into the 1st st (the 1st st will be the side of the 1st bean st), * skip 1 st, bean st into the next st, repeat from * all across (the last st of the row will be a bean st)
Row 21: ch1, turn, sc into the 1st st (the 1st st is the ch that closed the last bean st of row 20), sc in each st all across (341 sts)
