Lemon Peel Crochet Bookmark

Sharing is caring!

I am trying to go through my yarn stash this year instead of buying more yarn, and I had a box full of crochet thread. Now I had gotten all of these skeins with the intention of making some beautiful intricate crochet shawl patterns I had found on Etsy, but like all other big projects it just doesn’t happen.

So I was trying to think of a quick and easy project that would be useful for the thread and while reading a book I picked up at the library (btw, Life after Life by Kate Atkinson is gooooood) I was getting tired of using my check out slip as a bookmark. Then it hit me, crochet thread makes thin projects, and that could be a perfect bookmark in the making.

So I grabbed some small crochet hooks and decided to use the crochet lemon peel stitch to create this quick and easy bookmark pattern.

Finishing Touches

Now this pattern covers making the bookmark, but not any finishing touches like fringe.

You can use the bookmark as is, or you can add a tassel or anything else you would like.

My two favorite things to do for these were either fringe all across the bottom, or make a small braid for the top of the bookmark.

All 3 crochet bookmarks, one with fringe on the end and two with braids and a tassel
