Materials:
- 42 yards of a #4 medium-weight yarn
- 4.5 mm ( 7 ) crochet hook
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch Markers (optional)
- Stuffing (optional)
Crochet Stitches Used:
- ch – chain
- st/sts – stitch/stitches
- sc – single crochet
- sc-blo – single crochet back loop only

Initial Triangle:
Make 2 of these
Foundation Chain (01:45): ch 2
Row 1 (01:58): sc 3 times in the 1st ch of the Foundation chain(3 sts)
Row 2 (02:31): ch 1, turn, sc-blo 2x in the 1st st, sc-blo in next st, sc-blo in last st (4 sts)
Rows 3 – 20 (03:39): ch 1, turn, sc-blo 2x in the 1st st, * sc-blo in the next st, repeat from * all across (each row will increase by 1 st)
(05:07) Fasten Off and Weave in Ends for the 1st one, don’t fasten off for 2nd one
Border and Trunk(05:33):
Place the two triangles on top of each other,
Continuing with the connected yarn sl st the 2 pieces together in the 1st corner, going into the same corner st, sc 4 times into the corner, going down the side towards the top sc evenly, sc 4 times into the top corner, sc evenly down the other side, sc 4 times into the corner,
(You can start to add stuffing before starting the bottom part of the border)
sc over each of the next 13 sts, ch 1, turn
Trunk(09:58):
Row 1 (starting in the 1st st) sc over each of the next 5 sts, ch 1 turn
Row 2 (starting in the 1st st) sc over each of the next 5 sts,
sl st back down the 2 rows of 2 sc for the trunk
Border Continuation:
(Finish stuffing before continuing to complete the border)
Continue to sc across the rest of the bottom of the tree, sl st to join last sc to 1st sc of the border.
Fasten Off and Weave in Ends

Yes, a larger hook can be used. The amount of yarn needed would go up and the size would also increase with a larger hook.
