For awhile now, I’ve gotten requests for a dishcloth pattern that is a sc + hdc combo stitch, so I sat down last week and got to work on one.
The result?
This beautifully textured stitch that I’m loving and a new dishcloth pattern to stitch up. And the best part is that it is a super easy stitch to do and great for new crocheters who are looking to practice the half double crochet and single crochet stitches.

I use this stitch all the time. it is similar to thicket/Suzette stitch. what is this stitch called?
I have not found that this stitch has a particular name, but it could be out there somewhere I just havenโt come across it yet.
Hi, I found your site while searching for a hdc based pattern. I am loving this stitch! It works up super fast and is interesting to look at. Being a big fan of HDC, I have lots of moss stitch projects, but this pattern definitely has more pizzazz. I’m thinking of making a blanket with it using a 6 hook.
